Optimize and electrify our shipping network
At Amazon, we rely on a complex transportation network to serve customers around the globe. We’re focused on reducing carbon emissions across our transportation network, including increasing fleet efficiency and scaling electric vehicles. Amazon is making progress towards our goal to deploy at least 100,000 electric delivery vehicles globally by 2030.
Scaling Lower-Carbon fuels
Where electrification is not yet feasible, Amazon is scaling lower-carbon fuels across our transportation network. Through industry collaborations and investments, we aim to help make lower-carbon fuels more accessible and affordable.
For example, hydrogen fuel vehicles are a promising alternative to other fuels, as they produce water vapor instead of carbon emissions when combusted. Amazon’s transportation network also incorporates compressed natural gas vehicles, which can reduce carbon emissions by at least 75% compared to diesel when refueled with renewable natural gas.

The Climate Pledge
Amazon co-founded The Climate Pledge in 2019 and made a goal to achieve net-zero carbon by 2040. As part of that Pledge, Amazon set a goal to have at least 100,000 electric delivery vehicles on the road by 2030, from Rivian and other manufacturers.
With this, Amazon will eliminate millions of metric tons of carbon per year.
