Shipments that qualify as Dangerous Goods

Dangerous Goods are items like lithium batteries and substances that are flammable, toxic, or corrosive, posing risks to health, safety, or the environment due to their chemical or physical properties.

Flammable liquids and aerosols

Nail polish, hand sanitizer, perfume, essential oils, and acetone.

Personal care products

Hairspray, aerosol deodorants and shaving gels, dry shampoo, foaming shower gels.

Electronics and gadgets

Cameras, mobile phones, electric toothbrushes. Lithium ion batteries must be under 100 watt hours (Wh). These are usually rechargeable.

Lithium metal batteries

Lithium Metal batteries must be under 20 watt hours (Wh). These are usually not rechargeable.

How to ship Dangerous Goods

Review if your products are regulated as Dangerous Goods and validate the Class and UN number with your product’s manufacturer Safety Data Sheet.

Review our Dangerous Goods Shipping Guide to identify which Dangerous Goods are permitted to ship with Amazon Shipping.

Declare the permissible UNIDs to ship Dangerous Goods in your Amazon Shipping account.

Purchase shipping labels and declare Dangerous Goods attributes (UNID, Class, and additional Limited Quantity or Battery attributes).

Dangerous Goods declarations are fully supported through the Amazon Shipping API and partner integrators. If a label purchase fails a Dangerous Goods check, you’ll now receive a specific error code identifying exactly what needs to be corrected — such as a missing packing group or a restricted destination postcode — so you can resolve it in your own system and ship without contacting support.
